Gold is expensive but nice. Try looking for sterling silver, a lot cheaper than gold but still nice. But you can't get sterling silver wet, it may tarnish and you'll need to polish it. When you buy sterling silver, you want to preferably look for a stamp or something that says it's .925 sterling silver. 100% sterling silver is not good for jewelry-too soft, so they add other metals usually nickel to it.
